About GeSI

Since GeSI was formed in 2001, it has collaborated with members from global ICT companies to become the leading source of impartial information, resources and best practices for achieving integrated social and environmental sustainability through ICT.

From the beginning, GeSI has recognised the need to advance the role of sustainability across the ICT sector and into society, working together to create a bigger and better impact. As an industry responsible for billions of customers, GeSI has a duty and obligation to advance the needs of society and protect our planet. And by standing shoulder to shoulder it can mobilise stakeholders more effectively, accelerating their impact and driving sustainable change through digital solutions.

GeSI is comprised of some of the leading global ICT and telecommunication companies as well as organisations, think tanks, NGOs and associations which focus on the contribution of digital technologies to sustainability.

GeSI Board
GeSI is governed by a Board of Directors, which establishes strong foundations for the organisation to grow and to drive the global digital sustainability agenda through advocacy and transformative action.

With Members and Partners, the GeSI Board:

1. Builds on the collective knowledge and experience to identify opportunities and develop solutions for improving energy and resource efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and footprints, ensuring sustainable practices in the supply chain, encouraging access to sustainable technologies and supporting digital transformation across all industries and sectors around the globe;

2. Fosters collaborative and innovative approaches to sustainability. We support member initiatives in developed and developing countries that tackle climate change, promote energy/resource efificiency, privacy and security, digital literacy and human rights.
